Belarus’ Deputy PM: 2,100+ athletes already confirmed participation in 2nd CIS Games

The participation of more than 2.1 thousand athletes and about 700 members of delegations in the 2nd CIS Games in August 2023 has already been confirmed – as announced by Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko at a joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly

"One of the main tasks for 2023 is to hold the 2nd CIS Games in Belarus on August 4th-14th in eleven cities countrywide,” Mr. Petrishenko said. “They will demonstrate to participants and guests that not only the capital is capable of hosting major sporting events, but the sports facilities of different cities of Belarus meet the highest standards.”

Preparations for the event are at the final stage, and the participation of more than 2,100 athletes and about 700 members of delegations has been confirmed already. However, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed confidence that these figures will be higher.

“Belarus’ hosting of the CIS Games is also an opportunity to demonstrate the tourist opportunities of our regions,” Mr. Petrishenko added.
