The first flight of the Baku-Minsk-Baku route took place today, on October 2nd. The landmark event was attended by Director General Vyacheslav Khoroneko, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Belarus Ulvi Bakhshaliyev, and representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora. AZAL Airlines was represented by Head of the Aviation Transportation Sales Department Chingiz Mursalov.

The flight programme was restored five years after the cessation of flights between the countries.

“We’re grateful to our Azerbaijani colleagues for their attentive attitude to the wishes of Belarusian citizens, who invariably demonstrate high interest in flights between Minsk and Baku, including thanks to the carrier’s wide extensive network for further travel from Heydar Aliyev International Airport to destinations in Europe, Asia and Middle East,” noted Vyacheslav Khoroneko.

Moreover, in summer 2023, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Azerbaijan was celebrated.

On the first flight, 56 passengers arrived from Baku, and 76 people flew back from Minsk. Such a large number of passengers indicates high prospects for the occupancy of subsequent flights.

As is traditional, the first passenger at check-in was presented with gifts from the airport and the airline.

AZAL flights from Baku to Minsk, lasting about four hours, will be operated 4 times a week: on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.
