Aviation Department Director Igor Golub named the main tasks of the industry for this year – as reported by the Transport and Communications Ministry in its Telegram channel

Among the main tasks for 2024, Igor Golub named ensuring flight safety and aviation security, expanding the transportation market and developing the route network, increasing the attractiveness of air transport for the population, and increasing the economic efficiency of aviation organisations.

The plans also include improving the quality of service for passengers and cargo, developing regular and charter air services to/from regional airports, attracting investments to increase the aircraft fleet, and updating the airfield and air navigation infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the results of the Belarusian aviation industry’s work were summed up at the Aviation Department board, attended by Belarus’ Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Sergei Dubin.

It was noted that in 2023, Belavia airline operated regular flights to 20 airports in 10 countries. Two new regular routes from Minsk have been launched to Delhi and Murmansk. Regular flights on the Gomel-Moscow-Gomel route started in October.

Moreover, five foreign carriers began flying to Minsk (a total of 11 now). A set of repair work was carried out to restore the operation of the first runway at Minsk National Airport. An intergovernmental agreement on air services was also signed with Oman.

Negotiations on the development of co-operation were held with the aviation authorities of Russia, Egypt, China, Oman, Vietnam, Venezuela, Iran, Kazakhstan and other countries.

“Internal state procedures are being currently conducted to organise the signing of international agreements on air services with Venezuela, Kenya and the Seychelles. Aviation security is fully ensured at civil aviation facilities in Belarus. There have been no acts of illegal interference in the activities of civil aviation,” the Transport and Communications Ministry underlined.
