In his talk with SB TV, Mr. Bas noted that the situation around Belarus is tricky, ‘though it all happened not yesterday or today, but has been developing for many years’. “The training of our military personnel, units, formations and management bodies is carried out consistently. We are analysing the events that are taking place in Ukraine, in the West, in the Baltic States and Poland, drawing certain conclusions. Based on the situation developing near our borders, we have prepared a training plan for the 2023/2024 academic year," he said.

Mr. Bas stressed that combat training events are conducted taking into account the current situation, “Last year, more than a thousand events of various levels were planned and conducted, ranging from combat firing by squads and platoons to the exercises at different levels. The same number of events is planned for this year.” According to the military official, the planning of combat training took into account that subdivisions and military units are involved in the protection of the state border sections. “Although they are engaged into the protection of the state border sections directly in the areas of combat missions, they also participate in combat training classes. This year, a parade in honour of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from Nazi invaders is planned, and our military personnel will begin active preparations for this event in spring,” he added.

Mr. Bas noted that there will be a longer period of single training in the specialty this year. “We believe that every serviceman should be prepared perfectly in his military specialty. Moreover, when making plans for this academic year, we gave the right to heads, commanders of formations and military units to independently determine the timing of training, depending on the level of their military personnel’s readiness,” he said.
