In particular, Ms. Moskwa said, “Another global nuclear energy giant is joining the project. This is the American company Bechtel, which will act as a project performer.”

According to the source, a corresponding agreement was signed in Warsaw on May 25th.

Ms. Moskwa also informed that a nuclear energy training centre will soon start operating in Poland. “Together with the American side, we will announce the opening of a training centre in the coming days,” she said. “It will serve not only Poland, but, I hope, all countries in our part of Europe.”

In accordance with the Polish nuclear energy development programme, the country intends to equip its first nuclear power plant with PWR reactors. It is expected that the first unit will be launched in ten years, near the Gdansk coast. Pre-design work is carried out by the American firm Westinghouse. Subsequent units will be built every two to three years, and the entire nuclear programme envisages the construction of six units with a capacity of up to 9GW.
