Ambassador: Belarus keen to resume joint assembly of trucks and agricultural machinery in Algeria
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation, Dmitry Krutoi, has held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Algerian People’s Democratic Republic to Russia, Boumediene Guennad, the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic mission reports
The heads of the diplomatic missions reviewed issues on the bilateral agenda, discussed the schedule of upcoming contacts between Minsk and Algeria, as well as liaisons in the political and trade-economic spheres.
The Belarusian Ambassador stated with satisfaction the growth in trade turnover and underlined Belarus’ interest in resuming the joint assembly of Belarusian cargo and agricultural equipment in Algeria. Dmitry Krutoi noted the existing potential for increasing the supply of Belarusian agricultural products to Algeria and invited the Algerian side to participate in the Belagro International Agricultural Exhibition in June this year. He expressed the opinion that the completion of the recognition of Belarusian veterinary certificates for milk and dairy products will contribute to the growth of supplies to the Algerian market. The Belarusian diplomat also drew his interlocutor’s attention to the possibility of supplying Belarusian pharmaceutical products to Algeria.
The Ambassador of Algeria, in turn, stressed the importance of developing the full range of relations between his country and Belarus, welcoming the idea of developing joint assembly production of Belarusian equipment. He noted the importance of the supply of agricultural products to ensure food security, and expressed interest in learning about the experience of developing Belarus’ pharmaceutical industry.
Moreover, the heads of both diplomatic missions in Moscow touched upon bilateral interaction on international platforms, noting the similarity of positions on current issues on the world agenda.
