As informed, the strike has involved all schools, both primary and secondary. Moreover, it even affected many municipal kindergartens. The source said this is the first nationwide strike of teachers in Scotland since the 1980s. Only a few primary schools in Orkney and Shetland remain open.

According to Reuters, postal workers and university staff across the UK have also gone on strike today, demanding higher wages and warning that there will be new protests and riots in the run-up to Christmas.

A wave of strikes amid record inflation is registered in many European countries, and among protesters are employees of railway companies and airports, lawyers, postmen and other workers.
