Aleinik on programmes implemented jointly with African countries

Technologies and competencies, the volume of agricultural machine building in Belarus, and in-demand fertilisers are components of multifaceted co-operation with Africa in the field of agriculture. In his talk with STV TV channel, Belarus’ Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik revealed particular examples that are already being actively implemented.

Sergei Aleinik noted the implementation of two stages of the agricultural mechanisation programme in Zimbabwe, “They enabled this country to reach a completely self-sufficient level of wheat production. In late 2023, according to Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe began exporting wheat – for the first time in its history.”

Belarus has become a ‘donor’ in the areas of industry, education and healthcare, with Equatorial Guinea being also an illustrative example.

“A hospital has already been built there, we are implementing a project to assist in organising the management of this hospital. Of course, co-operation in healthcare is being built in a much broader format. This is all spelled out in the roadmap of our co-operation, as signed by the heads of state in December during our President’s official visit,” explained the Head of the Foreign Ministry. “And, of course, the healthcare sector is important and necessary not only for Equatorial Guinea. We are implementing projects in healthcare in Zimbabwe, and other African countries are also showing interest in liaisons in this area, because the health of the nation today is very important for all African countries without exception.”
