The start of the project was reported by the French AFP news agency.

Thus, software with AI elements is connected to an X-ray machine and it analyses the image within just five minutes. This method does not require the presence of a doctor. Currently, the project involves prisoners from three prisons in the capital of the country: Maputo.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), Mozambique is among the countries with a high incidence of tuberculosis: 361 cases per 100,000 people.

It was previously noted that scientists from the Republic of South Africa are working on creating an AI hub, which will optimise the process of collecting data on the spread of TB.
