Lukashenko opposes the use of CSTO to solve internal political problems in participating countries

The CSTO should not be used to solve internal political problems in the organisation’s member countries – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, during his meeting with CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas

The Head of State stressed that it is necessary to seriously discuss issues related to conflicts in the Transcaucasia and on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border at the next session of the CSTO Collective Security Council. The agenda also includes issues on forecasting and responding to crisis situations, as well as the media.

“There are many issues,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated. “In order not to be called a paper tiger, or something else, we need to become more active here. If someone does not want to work, let it be so. We need to work with those who want to work in the CSTO and to hammer once and for all this reinforced pillar, around which we will all spin, showing the whole world that there is such a military-political organisation. This is the position of Belarus. We are for this, but without any games, without using the CSTO in solving some internal political problems. Everyone has them, but the CSTO was established not for this purpose.”
