Years Later

Over 450 scientists from all over the world have applied for participation in the International conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, which is to take place in Belarus on April 19-21
Most of the applications are from Belarusian scientists, who wish to make their reports at the conference. There are 118 of them. Scientists from the CIS sent about 130 applications. They represent Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Moldova. Belarus received applications from Brazil, Germany, Denmark, Canada, Mexico, the US, Sweden and Japan.
The science board of the conference has started selecting the most interesting reports and will soon draw up a list of participants and rapporteurs.

The conference aims to accumulate the 20 years of experience in overcoming the aftermath of the tragedy and ways to recover from the disaster. It is planned to work out recommendations to outline a strategy for the future.

The scientific forum will also work in sections, which will be dedicated to medical, social and economic consequences of the Chernobyl accident and recovery of contaminated areas.
