For the last six months foreign investors have invested $8.3bn (except banks) into the real sector of the Belarusian economy. This figure is 6.2 percent higher than for the first half of 2013.

Among the main investors are Russia (42.7 percent of investments), the UK (19.8 percent), the Netherlands (11 percent), Cyprus (6.1 percent), Austria (3.6 percent) and Germany (2.4 percent).

The basic areas in which foreign investors have focused are: trade (34.8 percent), transport (25.2 percent) and industry (21.4 percent).

During the same period, Belarus directed investments abroad totalling $3.2bn, 8.5 percent higher than for the first half of the last year. The greatest volumes were sent to Russia (31.4 percent), the UK (22.1 percent), the Netherlands (21.5 percent) and Ukraine (15.6 percent).
