Opinion: Poland built wall on border with Belarus to please collective West

In its effort to please the collective West, Poland has erected a reinforced concrete wall on the border with Belarus, and this has produced a negative impact on the Belovezhskaya Pushcha fauna – as noted by Aleksei Avdonin, an expert at the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research, in his talk with Alfa Radio

Mr. Avdonin explained the purpose for which the mission of experts from the UNESCO World Heritage Centre and the International Union for Conservation of Nature had come to Belarus, “Poland, in order to please Brussels, Washington and London, has decided to divide Belovezhskaya Pushcha – erecting a reinforced concrete wall on its border with Belarus. As a result, natural seasonal migration of animals has become impossible, producing a negative impact on the animal population and the environment.”

Poland is trying to justify the need for a wall on the border with Belarus, asserting that it is needed to protect the country from migrants. However, as noted by the expert, such explanations are inconclusive. “These goals do not justify the losses incurred by the Belovezhskaya Pushcha’s eco-environment. Therefore, Belarus initiated the arrival of an international group in order for it to objectively assess the harm caused,” Mr. Avdonin explained.

The expert expressed hope that measures will be taken against Poland during a briefing and further work of the international mission, and that the reinforced concrete structure on the border will be dismantled.
