“It has been 20 years since the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control entered into force. During this time, the prevalence of smoking worldwide has decreased by a third, and there are 300 million fewer smokers today than there would have been if the prevalence had remained the same,” the WHO Chief said at the opening of the 78th session of the World Health Assembly.

The WHO stressed that tobacco use is one of the significant threats to health.
