Volfovich: information sphere actively used to ignite conflicts and destroy states

The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has hosted a meeting between State Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich and representatives of the scientific and expert community, BelTA reports

During the event, the most pressing issues of ensuring the national security of the Republic of Belarus in modern conditions were discussed.

“Today we are witnessing a global increase in geopolitical tensions. The modern world has approached a dangerous boundary,” noted Aleksandr Volfovich. “International security systems are weakened and demonstrate incapacity while effective mechanisms for responding to new challenges and threats are being lost. Meanwhile, forms and methods of warfare are being improved, new types of strike weapons are being developed. The information sphere has become the arena of interstate confrontation, which is actively used to ignite internal conflicts and destroy states.”

Moreover, there is a recession in the global economy, including due to the consequences of large-scale international sanctions. Undoubtedly, the ongoing processes have an impact on Belarus and, according to the State Secretary of the Security Council, require the adoption of appropriate measures, which are already included in the new edition of the National Security Concept.

The meeting participants expressed their own proposals for the protection of national interests, which will also be reflected in the updated strategic document.
