UN urged to eliminate nuclear weapons due to high level of threat
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that he is concerned about a high level of nuclear threat, therefore he called on the world community for nuclear disarmament, TASS reports
“As a result of geopolitical distrust and rivalry, the level of nuclear risk has increased to the level of the Cold War. At the same time, the hard-won progress made over many decades in preventing the use, proliferation and testing of nuclear weapons is being nullified,” Antonio Guterres said.
According to him, it is also important to strengthen the nuclear disarmament regime. It will be facilitated by the ratification by all countries of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty and the provision of a moratorium on its tests by the nuclear-weapon states.
