The text of the decree reads that it was decided to suspend the implementation of the treaty between the Republic of Turkiye and other states that are parties to the CFE Treaty from April 8th, 2024, in accordance with the Turkish President’s decree.

With reference to diplomatic sources, the Turkish media note that, in Ankara's opinion, the treaty has lost its meaning in the current conditions, and its agreements are actually not being implemented. It is also indicated that the decision to suspend the obligations under the treaty may be reversible.
