Speaking to the Joint Staff employees, Mr. Tasmagambetov noted that the goals set for 2023 were largely achieved thanks to the great contribution of the organisation's member states to strengthening the CSTO military co-operation, their constructive approach in reaching consensus, as well as the Joint Staff efforts.

In turn, the Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel-General Andrei Serdyukov, noted in his report that the main efforts of the Joint Staff in 2023 were focused on the implementation of tasks to increase the efficiency of decision-making on the use of forces and means of the CSTO collective security system, further development of the components of the CSTO troops (collective forces) and their preparation for the fulfilment of the intended tasks, as well as the improvement of management systems and comprehensive support.

Mr. Serdyukov stressed that the improvement of the crisis response system was considered as one of the most important areas of activity and was carried out taking into account the experience of the organisation's response to the situation in Kazakhstan in January 2022. Together with the CSTO Secretariat, proposals were prepared to amend the current crisis response regulations, and they were approved by the CSTO Collective Security Council in a new version in November 2023.

Among the priorities for 2024, the Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff noted the improvement of the regulatory framework governing the development of the CSTO military component, continued work with the CSTO Secretariat and defence departments to improve the crisis response system, high-quality training and successful implementation of joint operational and combat training events, as well as participation in the preparation and holding of meetings of the council of defence ministers and the CSTO Military Committee.

Summing up the results of the event, Imangali Tasmagambetov stressed that the implementation of the priorities of Kazakhstan during the country’s presidency within the organisation in 2024, as well as the decisions of the November 2023 session of the CSTO Collective Security Council presupposes new multifaceted tasks to improve the CSTO military component. Readiness and necessary potential are available for their achievement.
