Sokol: all patriots and international community aim to unite and stand up to fascism

The goal of all patriots and the international community is to unite and stand up to fascism, declaring that the patriotic movement exists and that we do not forget history while building our present and future – as stated by Aleksei Sokol, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus, at today’s anti-fascist forum that has brought together representatives of more than 50 countries in Minsk

In his speech, Mr. Sokol stressed that it is very honourable for Belarus to hold a large-scale international forum on the anniversary of Vladimir Lenin’s birth.

“No one needs to be explained how relevant today the topic of the fight against the fascist plague is. Belarus has always been an island of peace, creativity and good neighbourliness – and we continue this policy. Representatives of the Communist parties of post-Soviet countries and the European Union have gathered in the hero city of Minsk today. We all remember that Belarus was among the first territories to face the blow of fascism in the past, and the country came out of that battle with dignity. More than 260 concentration and death camps were established on the Belarusian territory, every third resident of the republic died as a result of that terrible war. Therefore, our goal, the goal of today’s forum, of all patriots, of the international community is to unite and stand up to fascism. We also wish to declare that the patriotic movement is alive. We do not forget our history, while building our present and future,” the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus stressed.

The anti-fascist forum is being held today at the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War History. The programme of this grandiose event includes an international anti-fascist conference, the adoption of the final resolution by the forum participants, as well as the laying of the Alley of Peace and Creation in the Belarusian capital.

The Russian side is represented by the leaders of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and the Central Council of the UPC-CPSU. Leaders and representatives of the Communist parties of Armenia, Georgia, Abkhazia, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Portugal, Germany and Hungary also arrived in Minsk. Communists of Moldova, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Transnistria, South Ossetia, Turkmenistan, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and other Communist parties from Europe, Asia and America are participating in the anti-fascist forum via videoconference.
