Since early 2021, more than 7,000 soldiers killed during Great Patriotic War joined Book of Memory lists

Belarus’ Defence Ministry continues to perpetuate those killed during defence of the Motherland and to preserve the memory of war victims – as reported by the Ministry’s press service

As informed, over 2021, information of more than 7,000 war victims has been included into the Book of Memory of the Republic of Belarus automated databank. In addition, 129 military and war victims' graves have also been registered.

“Specialists of the 52nd separate specialised search battalion have conducted field work on 61 objects. Thanks to the research of this unique army unit, the remains of 951 Red Army servicemen and 855 victims of the Great Patriotic War have been discovered. Data on 31 servicemen previously considered missing has been clarified,” the Defence Ministry reported.

The battalion soldiers have unearthed seven awards: four medals For Bravery and three medals For Military Merit, in addition to 39 medallions and 32 small arms.
