Shved, Mezentsev discuss bilateral co-operation to protect historical truth

Belarus’ Prosecutor General Andrei Shved has met with State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev – as reported on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office

At the working meeting, the parties discussed aspects of co-operation in the field of protecting historical truth, counteracting the revival of Nazism and preventing its glorification, as well as patriotic work with the younger generation and the implementation of large-scale media and publishing projects.

Dmitry Mezentsev highly appreciated the investigation of the criminal case on the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War and the related systematic work to preserve the memory of the feat of the Soviet people, perpetuate the victims of fascism and create objects of great historical and ideological significance in the country.

The State Secretary of the Union State noted the uniqueness of the published book – The Genocide of the Belarusian People. Death Camps, which, like the first edition of this series, aroused wide public interest. He also thanked Andrei Shved for the opportunity to publish the text and illustrative material of this book in the publishing project, entitled Without a Statute of Limitations, that is being prepared for the Union State Standing Committee and is aimed at demonstrating the bright pages of the history of Belarus and Russia, as well as reliable materials about the heroic past of the two peoples, culture and traditions.

“The presentation of this project is scheduled for June 22nd – the National Remembrance Day of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Genocide of the Belarusian People (Republic of Belarus) and the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow (Russian Federation) – in the Brest Fortress, within which the Prosecutor General of Belarus will also host a thematic round table discussion,” noted the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

In continuation of the meeting, Andrei Shved and Dmitry Mezentsev visited the museum exposition of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
