Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum ready to liaise with Belarus

On the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Consul General of the Republic of Belarus in Shanghai, Andrei Andreev, met with the Director of the Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum, Mr. Chen Jian – sb.by correspondent was informed in the Belarusian Consulate General

“The General Consul told the head of the museum about the efforts of the Republic of Belarus to preserve the historical truth about the genocide of the Belarusian and other peoples during the Great Patriotic War. These include the announcement of 2022 as the Year of Historical Memory by the President of the Republic of Belarus, the adoption of national legislation on the legal recognition of the genocide and the work – carried out by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Belarus and the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences – to establish the circumstances of Nazi crimes on the territory of our country,” noted the Consulate General.

Andrei Andreev stressed the need for joint efforts to preserve historical memory in order to prevent a revision of WWII results.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to establish co-operation on the joint collection of historical materials and the organisation of exhibitions and expositions dedicated to the fight against Nazism.
