Samsung to build petrochemical plant in Qatar
Samsung Engineering, in co-operation with Taiwan's CTCI Corporation, has won a tender for construction of a petrochemical plant in Qatar worth almost $2.5bn, the South Korean company’s press service reports
It has been announced that Samsung Engineering will oversee the establishment of production facilities for ethylene synthesis. In turn, the Taiwanese company will be responsible for construction of the rest of the plant's infrastructure.
Construction work is planned to be completed by late 2026.
"It is worth noting that the project will make it possible to establish one of the largest ethylene production facilities, with annual volumes reaching 2.08m tonnes. Samsung Engineering is confident that it will be able to successfully complete the project," the source said.
