Sabalenka climbed to sixth place in WTA rankings
The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has published an updated world ranking. Belarus’ first racket, who reached the semi-finals of a major tournament in Cincinnati last week, has risen one line and now occupies the sixth position.
Viktoria Azarenka has lost four places and is now placed 26th while Aliaksandra Sasnovich remained in 36th position.
The top ten looks like this: 1. Iga Swiatek (Poland); 2. Anett Kontaveit (Estonia); 3. Maria Sakkari (Greece); 4. Paula Badosa (Spain); 5. Ons Jabeur (Tunisia); 6. Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus); 7. Simona Halep (Romania); 8. Jessica Pegula (USA); 9. Garbine Muguruza (Spain); 10. Daria Kasatkina (Russia).
In the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), both Belarusians from the top-200 slightly fell: Ilya Ivashka is now two places down, being ranked 51st while Egor Gerasimov fell by one position to be currently placed 168th.
Leadership in the top-10 was retained by Russian Daniil Medvedev, followed by Alexander Zverev (Germany), Rafael Nadal (Spain), Carlos Alcaraz (Spain), Stefanos Tsitsipas (Greece), Novak Djokovic (Serbia), Casper Ruud (Norway), Felix Auger-Aliassime (Canada), Cameron Norrie (Great Britain) and Hubert Hurkacz (Poland).
