Putin: about 30 countries voiced willingness to join BRICS
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that BRICS attracts an increasing number of like-minded states, and already about three dozen countries want to join the bloc, RIA Novosti reports
According to Vladimir Putin, the BRICS supporters share the fundamental principles of the community: sovereign equality, respect for the choice of their own path of development, mutual consideration of interests, openness, consensus, the desire to form a multipolar world order and a fair model of the global financial and trading system, the search for collective solutions to the most pressing problems of our time.
According to the Russian leader, the bloc will take into account the readiness of many other countries (there are about three dozen of them) to join the BRICS in one form or another.
Vladimir Putin also recalled that, since January 1st when Russia took over the chairmanship of the organisation, new full-fledged members have joined it: Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia. According to the Russian leader, this is a convincing evidence of the growing authority of the BRICS and its role in world affairs.
