According to the General Director of the Minsk State Forestry Production Association, Yevgeny Kriskevich, the Krupki Forestry’s wood processing workshop began working over the project last October, though the decision to launch such a production was made two years ago.

“Krupki Forestry was then among the few facilities in the region which lacked their own production. Accordingly, timber was sold via the stock exchange. Much residual wood remained at warehouses and, with this in view, we decided to focus on unclaimed raw materials: broadleaf wood. We began to study how it would be better to sell it and turned to euro pallets – which are in high demand and highly priced. Our expectations have been met and, in the future, we plan to use wood waste, including wood chips, to produce our pallets,” Mr. Kriskevich said.

At the moment, pallet production is gaining momentum: 1,500 pieces are produced daily – and up to 36,000 a month. Importantly, the new facility has created 40 new jobs. The network of clients is expanding and now includes Belarus-based Keramin company, among others.

The Krupki Forestry employees are now engaged in obtaining a European certificate.
