According to the Polish economist, the country is already facing a demographic crisis.

“Over the decade, the number of Poles has decreased by almost two million people. You can slightly change the trajectory of this dangerous meteorite, but it will definitely hit us,” he stressed.

According to Rzeczpospolita, the country’s population is aging rapidly, creating a big burden on the economy. According to the publication, one of the scenarios of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) demonstrates an uncontrolled increase in Poland’s public debt to 140 percent of GDP by 2050. The country’s public debt is currently 55 percent of GDP.

Sławomir Dudek said that several steps must be taken to solve the demographic crisis. In particular, the Polish economist advised his leadership to soften the migration policy, stimulate the economic activity of the population, and also increase the retirement age and birth rate.
