Our President book being presented at Belarus’ National Library

The National Library of Belarus is hosting a book presentation: Our President. The documentary and biographical essay is presented by a team of authors: Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Honoured Scientist of Belarus Aleksandr Radkov, President’s Press Secretary Natalya Eismont, Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Vladimir Pertsov, and Head of the Belarus Publishing House Aleksandr Karlyukevich.

The President’s Press Secretary drew attention to the fact that the presentation is special; the title of the book speaks for itself. She added that the path of the author’s team was long and difficult, “We did not set ourselves the task of writing the President’s biography, much less revealing some shocking behind-the-scenes aspects of political life, making something artificially catchy, shocking, ‘yellow’. This is not our style, not our method. The task, as I define it for myself, was to remind us what path our President has gone and what path he is going through today, to remind readers once again how much the Head of State has done and is doing every day for each of us and for our country.”

Speaking about the genre of the publication, Ms. Eismont noted that the book is a documentary and biographical essay, “A book about the President is a book that everyone will examine under a microscope, first of all, the Head of State himself, our people, our opponents. Despite all these circumstances, after a long search and discussions, we decided to undertake this endeavour. We have been nurturing this idea for a long time, looking for a style of presenting the material, the form of the book, looking for something that would interest and hook readers. We worked, took short breaks and pauses, discussed, shortened, added something. Some moments were added by life itself. It was difficult to start, to continue, but no less difficult to finish.”

The President’s Press Secretary said that for a very long time the Head of State did not know about this work, adding that the book was done proactively, independently.

“In August 2024, in a fully finished form, this book was laid on the main desk of our country. We know that the President has looked through the book. There were no assessments, no reactions. There was one single assignment: this book should be read by different people. Each of those who read the book had their own comments and suggestions. In many ways we took them into account, after which we continued to polish the book. That is, a large number of people took part in the work, not only the author’s team,” Ms. Eismont emphasised.
