Orban stated EU virtual meeting confirmed that strategy of isolating Russia failed
The EU virtual meeting confirmed that the international isolation strategy for Russia has failed and the Ukraine conflict may only be resolved through diplomatic efforts, while the country’s admission to the EU will not provide it with any security guarantees — as noted by the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, following the meeting of the EU leaders held as a online summit, TASS reports

“Today, the leaders of the 27 member states of the European Union held a meeting. 1. It was confirmed that the threat of a third world war may only be reduced by the [US leader Donald] Trump and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin meeting. 2. It was confirmed that the strategy of isolating [Russia] has failed. 3. It was confirmed that the Russian-Ukrainian war has no solution on the front line; only diplomatic efforts can resolve the situation. 4. It was confirmed that Ukraine's membership in the European Union does not provide it with any security guarantees, therefore linking membership with security guarantees is pointless and dangerous,” Orban noted.
