Nigeria plans to apply for BRICS membership

Nigerian Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar stated that the country intends to apply for membership in BRICS after carrying out the necessary measures within the state, RIA Novosti reports

Yusuf Tuggar noted that Nigeria intends to join BRICS.

“Nigeria has a deliberative democratic system. Thus, before such measures are taken, there is usually active interaction with various interest groups and internal bodies,” the Nigerian Foreign Minister added.

Yusuf Tuggar also noted that the country is very interested in joining BRICS, emphasising the importance of the presence of Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima in South Africa at the latest BRICS summit.
