N. Korea said clashes with S. Korea highly probable in 2024
The Korean Central Telegraph Agency stated that the risks of a direct clash between the armed forces of the DPRK and South Korea in 2024 are the highest, TASS reports
The agency called several exercises of the South Korean military in 2024 and statements by the country's leadership on strengthening military capabilities ‘suicidal outrage’. According to the source, ‘even more interventionists, primarily from the United States and Japan, will roam the Korean Peninsula’. All these countries are pursuing ‘an unprecedented provocative policy in the military sphere, including a nuclear strike’. In this regard, the agency concluded, the risks of collisions are the highest in 2024.
The South Korean army held its first artillery exercises on January 1st this year, and they were repeated on January 2nd. On January 3rd, the country's naval forces conducted live-fire manoeuvres involving 13 ships in the Yellow Sea, the Sea of Japan and in waters south of the Korean Peninsula.
