In particular, Mr. Muraveiko stressed, “The bodies of the national security system and the Armed Forces, as the backbone of this system, are at the peak of their activity and readiness at present. All crucial decisions have been made that ensure the functioning of the military organisation in these difficult conditions. The task of the General Staff is to objectively assess the situation and make changes promptly. Since Soviet times, it has developed that the military system is conservative, and the General Staff aims to make it more flexible, more tenacious in responding to modern challenges, and closer to our people – so that ordinary Belarusians understand that security does not come from thin air, but it being ensured by ordinary guys who serve in the army and the police, who guard our border, who eliminate fires and other emergencies. A lot actually depends on how our people will treat people in uniform.”

The Chief of the General Staff added that the education of patriotism is also an important factor of security.
