More air defence units deployed along Belarusian border

Belarus’ Armed Forces have deployed more air defence units along the country’s western and north-western border – as reported by the Belarusian Defence Ministry’s Telegram channel

As informed, following a decision of Belarus’ Defence Ministry – co-ordinated with heads of the Russian Defence Ministry, practical issues of interaction of the air forces and units of the Belarusian-Russian joint regional air defence system have been practiced today. The tasks of patrolling the state border in the airspace of Belarus with the involvement of two TU-22M3 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces have been completed. Interaction with ground control points has been practiced as well.

The TU-22M3 aircraft landed at an airfield based on the territory of the Russian Federation, at the estimated time.

The Belarusian Defence Ministry’s press service stressed that, previously, such flights of strategic bomber aircraft were cyclical. However, from now on, they will be carried out on a regular basis. These are measures of adequate response to the evolving situation in the air and on the ground.
