Mr. Modi was interviewed by the WSJ on the eve of his state visit to the United States scheduled for June 21st-24th.

"I do not think this type of perception is widespread in the US. I think India's position is well known and well understood in the entire world. The world has full confidence that India's top-most priority is peace," the Indian Prime Minister commented on the critical assessment of the West.

Mr. Modi also stressed that India calls on other countries to respect international law and the sovereignty of states, to resolve conflicts through diplomacy and negotiations. “Some people say that we are neutral, but we are not neutral. We are on the side of peace," he said.

The Indian Prime Minister added that New Delhi will do everything necessary and support all real attempts to end the Ukrainian conflict and guarantee sustainable peace and stability.
