Military expert on Belarus’ defence capability: the country is qualitatively modernising its Armed Forces

Colonel Valery Revenko, the Chief of the International Military Co-operation Department – Assistant to the Defence Minister for Foreign Military Policy, informed on how Belarus’ Armed Forces are being modernised, and who supports the country in the international arena

While Poland is increasing the number of its Armed Forces and supplying offensive weapons, the strengthening of the western borders of Belarus is taking place due to the development of the Armed Forces – including ‘the deliveries of the Mi-35 helicopter, the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system, the famous Iskander complexes’. “We want our Armed Forces to be modern,” Mr. Revenko said in his talk with the STV TV channel. “At the same time, there is no increase in the number of Belarus’ Armed Forces. We had 65 thousand of them, and this figure remains unchanged. What does this mean? We have no aggressive intentions, we are not building our offensive potential. We are simply qualitatively modernising our Armed Forces.”

The expert added that Belarus’ further actions will be aimed at preserving a peaceful policy.
