Medical care taught at high level

Contribution of the Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education (BelMAPO) to ensuring high-tech medical care could hardly be overestimated – as stated by Belarus’ Healthcare Minister, Dmitry Pinevich, on the eve of a solemn meeting on the occasion of BelMAPO’s 90th anniversary

“Doctor’s personality is formed during the process of education and in the period of postgraduate studies. The latter actually lasts a lifetime for those who’ve decided to devote themselves to medicine. In this regard, the Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education aims to train specialists after their graduation from the university until the end of their professional career,” Mr. Pinevich said.

Moreover, BelMAPO contributes significantly to provision of high-tech medical care, the Healthcare Minister added.

At the moment, 56,000 practicing doctors work in Belarus and, according to the official, each of them is taught at the Academy every five years since they need to update their knowledge regularly.

Mr. Pinevich informed that the Republican Simulation Centre will be launched on the basis of BelMAPO in 2022 – enabling doctors to practice the technique of high-tech operations on simulators. “Practice is vital for training pre-graduate students and professional doctors,” he explained adding that the new centre will be one of the most powerful. “I believe the quality of postgraduate training will enhance significantly,” the Healthcare Minister stressed.

BelMAPO is an educational and scientific centre which provides continuous retraining of doctors and healthcare professionals in 78 medical specialties. Four faculties function here: paediatric, therapeutic, surgical and the one focusing on public health. In addition, 50 departments and scientific-research institutes supervise educational, scientific and medical activities to meet Belarus’ practical healthcare tasks.
