Media: two new bird flu outbreaks discovered in the Czech Republic
Two cases of the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N1) have been identified in the area of the Třebíč city in the south-east of the Czech Republic, TASS reports
According to Czech Radio, about 70,000 chickens are kept on two poultry farms where the virus has been detected. They are to be slaughtered in order to prevent further spread of the disease.
More than 20 bird flu outbreaks have been detected in the Czech Republic since the beginning of 2024.
According to media reports, approximately 140,000 birds have been culled in order to stop the spread of the H5N1 virus in the Czech Republic.
