Media: Germany’s postal service to cut 8,000 employees by late 2025
The postal and logistics company, Deutsche Post, will cut 8,000 jobs by the end of this year, TASS reports with reference to the DPA agency
It is noted that the plans cover the unit responsible for the delivery of letters and parcels in Germany. In total, it employs about 187 thousand people. Jobs are being cut after the salaries of postal service employees were increased.
Earlier, employees of the German postal service held a one-day warning strike countrywide, they sought a 7 percent salary increase and the right to additional vacation days. As a result of negotiations, the Verdi service workers' union and the Deutsche Post management reached an agreement to increase the salaries of postal service employees by 5 percent.
