Lukashenko: we’ll continue to do everything to make village attractive place to live in

Everything will be done in Belarus to make villages an attractive and convenient place for Belarusians to work, live and holiday – as noted by Aleksandr Lukashenko during a solemn celebration of the country’s leaders of the agro-industrial complex

In his address to the ceremony guests, the President focused on ‘the village of the future’, among other issues. “Efficient production is the basis of our ‘village of the future’, and we are doing everything to improve the quality of life in rural areas. A great job has been done, and our first project – agro-towns – has been implemented. It unites almost 1,500 settlements, in which the most modern living conditions have been created,” he said, adding that these include beautiful houses, well-tended farmsteads, water and gas supply, paved streets, schools, equipped playgrounds for recreation and sports, and other necessary infrastructure.

The Belarusian leader stressed that the development of agro-towns will continue in the country, and Kopys in the Orsha District could act as a model for building such ‘villages of the future’.

“Actually, I would like to note that similar examples could be met throughout the country, in all regions. We will continue to do everything to make our village an attractive and convenient place for Belarusians to work, live and holiday. After all, our roots are there – as I have said more than once. It does not matter in which generation it was, but we are all from there, from the village," the President said. “All of us – townspeople and villagers – appreciate the flavour of rural life very much, and we strive to preserve and improve it. I would repeat once again: time is such now that you – Belarusians – can have your own piece of land. Do not miss this time. A traditional way of life combined with accessible civilizational achievements is the main goal of our ‘village of the future’ project.”

Addressing the agricultural workers, Aleksandr Lukashenko warmly thanked them, “I thank you for your hard work, for your professional choice and dedication. From year to year, with your successes, you are showing that your native land is in safe hands. On this festive day, I sincerely wish you and your loved ones exceptional health, happiness and well-being – and most importantly, peace and good to our Belarusian land!”
