The time has come for serious consolidation within the CIS – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, at the CIS summit in Bishkek, BelTA reports

Aleksandr Lukashenko underlined that there are enough examples of successful work within the CIS – as confirmed by the summit’s busy agenda, which covers a range of important joint statements. “They confirm that the countries have common approaches to such pressing issues as freedom of religion, the inadmissibility of discrimination based on language, and the harmonisation of public administration systems in the sphere of digital technology,” the Belarusian Head of State said.

The President of Belarus particularly noted the importance of adopting a statement on interstate relations in a multipolar world, “It generally reflects our common vision of the world order’s foundations, with the exception of the paragraph in which it was proposed to express concern about the politicisation of the international courts’ activities. But even such a mild formulation was not supported by everyone. Why do we need these international courts, especially in our relationships? Moreover, we understand, especially now, why this is being done.”

“Apparently, this just hasn’t affected anyone yet. Someday you will want to help children, give them some childhood, save them from bombings and explosions, but for this you will be put on the international wanted list,” the Belarusian leader noted.

He stressed that in the context of a rapidly changing situation and the demand for a more equitable world order, associations that are looking for ways to expand and strengthen co-operation, peaceful coexistence, legal guarantees of development and the elimination of discrimination based on religion or income level are in greater demand than ever. “Our Commonwealth is precisely one of such associations,” the Belarusian Head of State is confident. “Why don’t we all appreciate it? We have accumulated huge experience in constructive work, which is of interest outside the CIS. Other integration associations are looking at it, but for many it’s like an eyesore.”
