Lukashenko: the main result is that people now more often go shopping and buy more

In January-November 2023, retail trade turnover amounted to 108.2 percent compared to last year's level – as informed by the First Deputy Prime Minister, Nikolai Snopkov, in his report at today’s meeting with the President on improving the system of price regulation and control

The First Deputy Prime Minister described in detail what characterises the country's consumer market after decisions on price regulation were made. As for the results in trade, retail turnover amounted to 108.2 percent in the first eleven months of 2023. “This means people now more often go shopping and buy more, and this is the main result!” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

At the same time, Mr. Snopkov noted that trade profits decreased fell due to the control of trade surcharges, but most enterprises demonstrate financial stability.

“As for their profit, it is no need for you to worry about the profit in trading. Probably slightly less taxes were paid to the budget, but, in my opinion, are we coping with the budget,” the Head of State noted.

“More than enough!” Mr. Snopkov assured the President.

“It is no need to assert ‘more than’,” the Belarusian leader warned the Government against hasty confidence. “Well done. It is good when it is fine. Otherwise, our poor fugitives will start crying that they have not enough money, while people here [in Belarus] have. Therefore, [forget about] the fears that you once talked about [a possible shortage of goods and the players ready to leave the market]. Nothing has happened. We are working normally.”
