Lukashenko sent address to internationalist soldiers and Afghanistan war veterans

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has sent an address to internationalist soldiers and veterans of the war in Afghanistan, Belarusian leader’s press service reports

“Dear comrades! On February 15th, Belarus is celebrating the Internationalist Soldiers Remembrance Day. Thirty-five years have passed since the withdrawal of the Soviet army from the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan, but the hearts of Belarusians keep the memory of their compatriots who became an inexorable barrier to international terrorism,” the address reads.

According to the President, by showing courage and perseverance, they defended the southern borders of their country and fought for a decent future for the Afghan people.

The Head of State noted that we share the bitterness of the losses of the families of fallen soldiers and officers, bowing our heads to the mothers who raised true patriots.

“Having returned from the war, you continued serving the Fatherland, instilling love and respect for the Motherland among the younger generation, standing guard over the foundations of the state system, and working for the good of society. Having gone through difficult trials, you remain a reliable shield protecting your native Belarus from modern threats,” the Belarusian leader underlined.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished everyone strength of spirit and strong health, and peace and prosperity to families and friends.
