Lukashenko's New Year greetings ranked third on YouTube’s Trending section

Aleksandr Lukashenko's New Year's greetings is ranked third on YouTube’s Trending section. Belarusians and residents of dozens of countries post wishes of health to Belarus’ President, and of peace and prosperity – to the republic

Belarusians have a good tradition of celebrating the New Year with the President. A few minutes before the start of one of the most beloved holidays, they gather at a rich family table, make wishes, thank the outgoing year for everything good that it brought, and watch Aleksandr Lukashenko's New Year address to the Belarusian nation. The President’s congratulations are broadcast on big screens at the largest venues in the capital, and certainly on YouTube as well – so that everyone can enjoy the opportunity to hear the Belarusian leader’s warm wishes first-hand. Actually, even the YouTube failure – which occurred on the eve of midnight on December 31st, 2023 – did not prevent the growth of views. Belarusians and residents of dozens of countries continue to congratulate Aleksandr Lukashenko and all residents of the republic on the New Year. The President is receiving wishes of good health and long life, while peace and prosperity are being wished to the country.

Among those who leave comments under the New Year address of the President are residents of Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, the United States, Canada, Spain, Poland, Australia, Luxembourg, Bali, Germany, Turkiye, Israel, and others.

There are wishes of peace and prosperity to Belarus, and those leaving comments also mention sanctions sometimes – though in the most unexpected way: ellaaleinova5780, for example, posts, “Belarusians, thank your enemies for the sanctions. You have become stronger and more independent!!! You have a real President who cares about his people! Happiness and prosperity to you!!!"

A citizen of Canada, sergeyzaitzev4102, wishes Belarusians to protect the country, their relatives and friends. He sincerely admits, “You are among the best in this crazy world!"

A huge number of congratulations are coming from the residents of fraternal Russia: user-vasQa, for example, sends greetings from northern Yakutia and shares plans ‘to visit your beautiful country’, while ladygala8522 from Moscow openly asserts that Belarus is a favourite, wishing all Belarusians for 2024 ‘to take only the best into it, and leave all the hardships in 2023, “Good luck, prosperity and happiness! I love you infinitely, my dear ones!"

Special words of gratitude and appreciation are addressed to Aleksandr Lukashenko. He is just Batka [father] for many Belarusians and foreigners. LubovMalova-xt7mx, from Azerbaijan, congratulates the republic, “I wish peace, prosperity and happiness to your land and your people. Take care of Batka!"

In turn, alexandreev6869, from Australia, adds, “Take care of your Batka, he is your dignity! Greetings from Australia. I admire your achievements, your lifestyle. My soul rejoices for you."

A commentator nicknamed Esset Palladium briefly notes, “He is such a cool man! I have infinite respect for Batka! It would be great if we have someone like him…” Only a short comment is possible here: come to Belarus, as it is always open to those who come with peace and kindness.

Foreign viewers also appreciate the President's words of gratitude to ordinary Belarusians, and @user-xy8io7lz1o notes, “I admire this congratulation, it is great. He is the only President who thanks his people. Well done, Batka.” User-ux8os9mp3c echoes, “Happy New Year, my beloved Belarusians! Batka is great! Aleksandr Grigorievich, you are right in everything, with no empty words: all of them are correct!"

Aleksandr Lukashenko's New Year address, translated into Polish, has been posted on the Międzynarodowe Radio Białoruś YouTube channel, and ordinary Poles appreciate the Belarusian leader’s sincerity, sending the kindest and warmest wishes to the Head of State and all Belarusians. Their comments read:

♦ "You are great! We, Poles, want peace and delicious products from Belarus."

♦ "Congratulations to our friends from Belarus. We are sincerely jealous that you have a real President."

♦ "All the best to Mr. President and the Belarusian people! May we, Poles, get smarter and make peace with Belarus as soon as possible."

By the way, it is worth mentioning here that the President supported the extension of the visa-free regime for citizens of Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, and therefore Belarusians are waiting for guests to come and enjoy local delicious food. Belarus has enough for everyone!

There is another observation: comments under Aleksandr Lukashenko's congratulations in Polish confirm that ordinary Poles, unlike their politicians, see who is who in reality. Just like Belarusians, they wish peace to our peoples. Some of them even ask for forgiveness, "Mr. President Lukashenko, best New Year wishes from Poland to beloved Belarus, and I apologise for the insults caused by the Polish PiS regime towards your country."

We sincerely hope that the Polish government will soon come to its senses and remember Aleksandr Lukashenko’s words: neighbours are not chosen, so it is necessary to learn to live in peace with them. Belarusians always follow this principle – especially now, when there is nothing more valuable than peace. Therefore, there is a piece of advice for those who have not yet heard this truth: listen to Batka!
