Lukashenko received report on situation in the country amid intensifying cold weather and response to emergencies

On the morning of February 4th, President Aleksandr Lukashenko received a report from Emergencies Minister Vadim Sinyavsky regarding the country’s situation amid intensifying cold weather and the response to emergencies caused by these conditions, sb.by reports citing the Belarusian leader’s press service

The Head of State was primarily concerned with the operation of heating and water supply systems, especially for housing, economic facilities and agriculture. One of the main tasks is to ensure the prompt elimination of consequences in case of emergencies. The President emphasised the co-ordinating role of the Emergencies Ministry among government agencies in this process.

As reported by the Emergencies Minister, all issues related to addressing the consequences of accidents at heating facilities across the country have been resolved. Typically, it took no more than a day to fix the accidents (except for the damage to the heating pipeline in Minsk).

In addition, the electricity supply was promptly restored at all facilities in the settlements where emergency outages were recorded (more than 900 cases).

Special attention was given to ensuring fire safety, with a focus on preventing loss of life. The Head of State was informed about an increase in the number of fatalities caused by fires, which was also influenced by challenging weather conditions.

According to Mr. Sinyavsky, all Emergencies Ministry services have been switched to special operating conditions, with regular inspections of equipment readiness, personnel and dispatch services being conducted.
