Lukashenko proposed Arkhangelsk Region to discuss roadmap for each area of co-operation

During his today’s meeting with the Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region of Russia, Alexander Tsybulsky, Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko focused on the main directions and prospects of bilateral co-operation, and housing construction was among them

The Head of State noted that an important social task is being solved in the Arkhangelsk Region to resettle people from dilapidated houses, “You are about a year ahead of this programme, though the amount of work is considerable. I think that we could also elaborate to some extent the possibility of supply of construction materials and assistance to builders.”

Knowledge-intensive and import-substituting projects based on a strong regional base could be another area of co-operation, and Aleksandr Lukashenko specified, “Development of peat deposits and subsequent production of high-tech products – such as plant growth regulators, active feed additives for agriculture, animal husbandry, and oil production – look promising. Belarus produces all the necessary equipment for the extraction and deep processing of peat.”

According to the President, the proposals voiced today are far from being a full list of areas of partnership. “I propose to discuss not single projects, but our action plan – or, as they say, a roadmap, a package approach in each direction. In a year or two, we can summarise the work done,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
