Lukashenko presented Grand Prix of Vitebsk Children's Song Contest to Sherkhan Arystan from Kazakhstan

A young performer from Kazakhstan, Sherkhan Arystan, has won the Grand Prix of the 32nd International Vitebsk Children's Song Contest, BelTA reports

The singer received the award from the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, during the opening ceremony of the 32nd International Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk Festival of Arts.

The jury gave 12-year-old Sherkhan Arystan the maximum number of 70 points on both days. As a result, he was ahead of all rivals with 140 points. On the first day, the young singer performed Ama, Credi e Vai by Andrea Bocelli, David Foster and Amy Foster. He demonstrated strong vocal talent and conquered the hearts of the jury and audience. Sherkhan admitted that he dreams of becoming a pop star so that everyone, from young to old, knows him in his native Kazakhstan.

Belarusian Sofia Rustamova was behind Sherkhan by just four points. On the first competition day, she won 66 points, and the second day brought her the desired maximum of 70 points for a song in Belarusian.
