Lukashenko: Polish politicians want to jump into Parliament on Belarusian horse, but they will fail

Polish politicians are trying with all their might to represent Belarus as their enemy, because they want to use this topic to secure victory in the upcoming parliamentary elections – as noted by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, in his talk with journalists and experts after today’s meeting on topical issues of BSU activities

The Director General of the National Library of Belarus, Vadim Gigin, asked how the Head of State feels about the fact that the Belarusian agenda is now at the top in Poland, with news there ranging from Wagnerians to the fence at the border.

The Belarusian leader is convinced that we are respected. “They respect us, and they take us into consideration. People there speak of this, so they have to react. Will they [Polish politicians] say that the wall has been built in vain? The Polish leadership will not tell people that this wall is not an obstacle for migrants: not a single migrant – who decided to pass through this wall to Poland – has been detained. I am talking about this very responsibly,” the Head of State said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that migrants are travelling not to Belarus, while Poles are doing everything to keep them out and literally ‘throw them back’, “Those were not us who created that wave. They [Poles] refused to co-operate with us and imposed sanctions against us. I then asked them: ‘Are you madmen? You have imposed sanctions against me. Shall I protect you from migrants in this case? Catch them there’. We are absolutely not guilty for that wave. It would have been less active through Belarus if there was no war in Ukraine.”

The Head of State added that migrants once used the Ukrainian side more actively, but only the Belarusian ‘window’ has remained. At the same time, he stressed with confidence, “We will not fight for Europe and will not tear our clothes in connection with the policy they are pursuing.”

As for the Belarusian agenda in Poland, the President stated, “Poles should understand that there is only one reason: they [Polish authorities] need some kind of external enemy. Belarus, Russia can be such.”

The Polish leaders now need to explain to their people why they built a wall on the border. Moreover, the question of whether to demolish it or not is proposed to be put to a referendum.

“I used to think that smart people are in power there, but it is complete idiocy to put this question to a referendum. Do they think Poles are idiots?.. They need this topic today, because Poles are endlessly discussing Belarus now. Therefore, they wish to kneel us down. They want to jump into the Parliament on a Belarusian horse and win. It will not work. We are explaining everything to Poles, and we will explain it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko concluded.
