Lukashenko outlined prospects for co-operation with Tatarstan

The list of areas in which Belarus and Tatarstan can liaise has no boundaries. Great opportunities for interaction are opened up today in the field of information technology and the digital economy, as well as joint co-operation projects – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, during a meeting with Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

One of the promising areas for collaboration between Belarus and Tatarstan is the aircraft industry. In particular, the Head of State noted that the Kazan Aviation Plant named after S.P. Gorbunov returned to the mass production of the Tu-214 long-range passenger aircraft, We, having retained the necessary competencies and production capacities in Belarus, are ready to launch the production of a range of components. Today we produce almost half a thousand parts for Russian aircraft.”

According to the President, the IT sphere and the digital economy also open up great opportunities for liaisons, “You know our capabilities, if we co-operate here, then we will also get a good effect for the future.”

The Belarusian Head of State noted the high interest of the Tatarstan residents in the events within the framework of the Days of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, which took place in 2022. This confirms the importance of cultural exchanges, the preservation of the traditions of the two peoples and the common historical memory. The Belarusian leader added that our country would welcome the reciprocal Days of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan with great pleasure.

Aleksandr Lukashenko also thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for the warm welcome and support of the Belarusian team in Kazan during the 2022 International Friendship Games.

“As you can see, the list of areas in which we can liaise has no boundaries. I am sure that your visit today (yesterday you worked efficiently with the Government) will certainly lead to very serious progress. We will leave $1bn [of trade turnover] far behind, surpassing it. Moreover, the possibilities are enormous. Based on the productive work that you have already carried out in Belarus, some problems may have arisen, issues that need to be addressed and settled. Rustam Nurgalievich, we are ready for this, as always, you know that. I am ready to listen to any problems that exist,” the Head of State assured.
