Lukashenko on deepening industrial interaction with Tatarstan: time forces us to speed up

Belarus makes a very big focus on the industrial sector in its liaisons with Russia – as noted today by the President of Belarus at a meeting with Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that the two countries’ leaders paid special attention to this topic during their bilateral talks and a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State last week in Moscow.

“We already see the results of joint work,” the Belarusian leader said. “MTZ-Tatarstan Ltd. – established, e.g., twenty years ago – is today a kind of hub for the sale of products of many domestic manufacturers. Another example is the Minsk Motor Plant, which, together with your holding company, produces gas engines. It would be nice if you helped speed up their certification and launch into mass production.”

The President also stated that there are agreements between the Belarusian Industry Ministry and KAMAZ on deepening collaboration in the production of various automotive components, units, assemblies and microelectronics.

The President of Belarus added, “We just need to do it faster. We must accelerate. Time forces us to speed up. Over $19bn of the corresponding goods is annually supplied to the market of automotive components for transport engineering in Belarus and Russia alone. This is a huge opportunity, huge money, which, of course, we should not give to anyone. We can play a major role here.”
