Lukashenko named threats for Belarus: NATO policy, Poland’s aggressive intentions, Wagner hysteria

Today’s meeting of the Security Council with the participation of the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, held at the Palace of Independence, is tackling a number of issues related to ensuring national security

“The tense situation in the world and directly at our borders, as well as the sanctions pressure don’t give us the opportunity to be absolutely calm and confident in the future,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted. “NATO countries are persistently promoting their expansion policy, building up their military presence around Belarus, and constantly conducting military drills. They justify their actions with some threats allegedly emanating from the territory of Belarus. The leadership of Poland and the Baltic States accuses Belarus of some mythical aggressive intentions that have never been and cannot be. It whips up hysteria about the presence of PMC Wagner members on our territory. They are already demanding their immediate withdrawal from Belarus though they themselves are increasing military budgets and pulling large military formations to our borders.”

The answer, pointed out by Aleksandr Lukashenko, is simple, “Neither in Poland, nor in Lithuania, nor in other Baltic States should there be a single foreign serviceman. Otherwise, we can also make claims about the presence of military personnel from other countries here. In the meantime, these are unreasonable and stupid demands. Not even requests and suggestions, but demands.”

Moreover, the Head of State added that in April Warsaw announced the decision not to implement the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe in relation to our country.

“This is actually the last legally binding international act in the field of arms control. This is already a dangerous step, and we should always warn the Poles (the leadership of Poland) about this so that it would not hurt later. How should we respond to all this?” Aleksandr Lukashenko asked. “I’m not talking about the preparation of our fugitives on their territory for a military coup in Belarus. I want to warn again that in this regard, we won’t be too soft with anyone. Although we must pay tribute: our fugitives, who are in Poland, Lithuania, and especially in Ukraine, understand why they are used there.”
